Bio

Bill Santiago is a standup comedian, author and former journalist. As the first born of at least four children, he became a standup after narrowly escaping a career in journalism, facing the fact that as a comedian he was funny, but as a reporter he was a joke. It’s been said he was born to Puerto Rican immigrants, which is technically untrue, as Puerto Ricans are US citizens. Although, he’s got an uncle who was once deported to the Bronx.

While connecting solidly with his Latino fans, Santiago is just as popular for his savvy mainstream material, reminiscent of George Carlin and Jerry Seinfeld, and showcasing Santiago’s journalistic roots, obsessions with language, and keen insights on everything from family to culture to cats to politics to religion to life and death to dance to Facebook.

Known best for his bilingual TV specials on Comedy Central, Bill’s comedy style is a lighthearted look at life in America seen through the eyes of a brilliant comic who sees humor in everything. He provides high quality comedy showcases in which even everyday trips to K-Mart become side splitting laugh-a-thons. Bill points out all of the Spanglish you know, even if you don’t know it. His shows are great for all audiences – Spanish speaking or English – it doesn’t matter, everyone will walk away happy knowing they speak a second language. His stand-up shows include: “Pardon My Spanglish”, “The Funny of (Latin) Dance”, “The Immaculate Big Bang (aka The God Show)”, and “My Fellow Republicans – 47% Hilarious!”

Bill Santiago is not just a standup comedian, but also an author and former journalist, who has appeared on “Comedy Central Presents”, “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”, “Que Locos”, “American Latino”, and Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”. His book “Pardon My Spanglish iPorque Because!” has been featured on “Good Morning America Now”, NBC “Today in New York”, BBC World, ABC News “Exclusiva”, Univision “Al Despertar,” Sirius Satellite Radio shows, and more. His latest project, a stage show, “The Funny of (Latin) Dance,” played to sold out crowds at the Brava Theater in San Francisco. His funny insights can also be found in the Huffington Post under their Latino Voices section. Bill is the resident comedian on CNN Saturday Mornings with Randi Kaye, has appeared Showtime, and has written for The New York Times, Washington Post, and the Miami Herald.

Bill Santiago is a great comedic act for performances at corporate events, casinos, festivals, fundraisers, night clubs, colleges, theaters, and comedy venues across the country.
